Management Responsibilities
Senior management at London Man and Van has overall responsibility for ensuring that this policy is implemented and reviewed. Management will:

Carry out and regularly review risk assessments for removal, loading, unloading and transport tasks.
Ensure suitable arrangements are in place for emergency situations, including accidents, vehicle incidents and injuries at work sites.
Monitor health and safety performance and investigate incidents and near misses to identify root causes and improvements.
Consult with employees on health and safety matters and encourage reporting of hazards or concerns.
Employee Responsibilities
Every employee and contractor working on behalf of London Man and Van has a duty to take reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions. All staff must:
Follow the training, instructions and safe working procedures provided.
Use vehicles, lifting equipment and protective gear correctly and only for their intended purpose.
Report accidents, injuries, near misses, defective equipment and unsafe conditions without delay.
Cooperate with management on health and safety matters, including attending training and briefings.
Refrain from any behaviour that could endanger themselves, colleagues, customers or the public.
Safe Working Practices for Removals and Transport
London Man and Van will apply the following safe working practices to all moving, handling and transport tasks:
Carry out job-specific risk assessments before removals, including consideration of access routes, stairs, parking, loading areas and any special customer requirements.
Plan lifting and carrying tasks to minimise manual handling risks, using handling aids such as trolleys, dollies and straps wherever appropriate.
Ensure that heavy or awkward items, such as furniture and appliances, are lifted by enough people and moved using correct techniques.
Secure loads safely in vehicles to prevent movement during transit, taking account of weight distribution and stability.
Maintain safe driving standards, allowing adequate time for journeys and complying with road traffic regulations at all times.

Vehicles, Equipment and Maintenance
